HC Deb 15 February 1999 vol 325 c554W
Mr. Maclean

To ask the Secretary of State for Social Security how many(a) personal pension plans and (b) occupational pension schemes are currently held in the United Kingdom. [70694]

Mr. Timms

There are 10 million personal pension plans, but some plan holders have more than one plan. There were 155,367 occupational pension schemes in the United Kingdom as at March 1998. There are about 10.5 million people of working age in Great Britain who are members of occupational pension schemes.
