HC Deb 11 February 1999 vol 325 cc364-7W
Mr. Moore

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland how many patients(a) had not yet been seen following GP written referral and (b) were waiting between referral to consultation, broken down (i) by specialty and (ii) by quarter from 30 March 1997. [67365]

Mr. Galbraith

[holding answer 25 January 1999]: Information on waiting lists is collected centrally only for hospital inpatients and day cases. Data are available on first outpatient referrals and the length of time that patients waited for their first outpatient appointment. The percentage of patients who received a first outpatient appointment within 9 weeks and 18 weeks following a General Medical Practitioner/General Dental Practitioner referral, by specialty, for each quarter from 31 March 1997, is provided in the tables.

From 1 July 1999, this will be a matter for the Scottish Parliament.
