To ask the Secretary of State for Wales if he will make a statement on supernurses. [69546]

Mr. Jon Owen Jones

The Prime Minister has asked the Secretary of State for Health to consider, in conjunction with the nursing profession, the introduction of nurse consultants. The Welsh Office are involved with the Department of Health and the profession in developing detailed proposals.

Following the transfer of power, this issue will be a matter for the National Assembly.
