To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will break down by subhead the expenditure on administration by Scottish Enterprise in(a) 1997–98 and (b) 1998–99; and if he will make a statement. [69239]

Mr. Dewar

[holding answer 4 February 1999]: The overall budget allocations to Scottish Enterprise for 1997–98 and 1998–99 included £59.29 million and £61.29 million for administration respectively. The allocation of the resources within the Administration Block is an operational matter for Scottish Enterprise and I have asked the Chairman to write to the hon. Member.

From 1 July 1999 this will be a matter for the Scottish Parliament.

Mr. Dewar

[holding answer 4 February 1999]: The Scottish Enterprise budget for 1999–2000 and 2000–01 was announced as part of the Government's Comprehensive Spending Review and is £427 million and £435 million respectively. The detailed breakdown for 1999–2000 is at present being finalised and will be published in The Scottish Office Departmental Report.

From 1 July 1999 this will be a matter for the Scottish Parliament.
