HC Deb 09 February 1999 vol 325 c167W
Mr. Flynn

To ask the Secretary of State for Health if he will make a statement on his Department's investigations into the David Lewis Centre, Cheshire. [69310]

Mr. Hutton

The David Lewis Organisation has carried out an internal review of the standard of care provided to a 19-year-old patient following an allegation of neglect made by her family. South Cheshire Health Authority has now received the report and has accepted its findings. The Health Authority is in the process of commissioning a comprehensive independent expert review to assess whether the services provided by the David Lewis Centre are modern, effective and appropriate in meeting the needs of the children and adults in their care. That review is now expected to be completed by the end of April.
