Mr. Flynn

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department how much was spent on(a) the surveillance operation and (b) the raid on the Back Beat Club in December 1998; how many police officers were involved; and what was the value and types of controlled drugs seized. [69311]

Mr. Boateng

This is an operational matter for the Commissioner of Police of the Metropolis. He tells me that a number of people have now been charged following this police operation. As the matter is now before the court, I cannot comment further at this stage on matters which may be material to the case.
