HC Deb 19 October 1998 vol 317 cc985-6W
Mr. Paul Marsden

To ask the Secretary of State for Health what plans he has to break down the results of the National Survey of Patient and User Experience into individual health trusts. [55304]

Mr. Milburn

As stated in the White Paper "The New NHS: Modern and Dependable", the Government will be publishing the results of the survey at national and health authority level. In addition, consideration is currently being given to how information from the survey relating to individual NHS trusts can best be made available.

Mr. Paul Marsden

To ask the Secretary of State for Health who will undertake the National Patient and User Experience Survey; and what was the selection procedure. [55273]

Mr. Milburn

As announced on 12 August, a consortium led by Social and Community Planning Research, with Imperial College and Picker Europe Ltd. has been selected to undertake the National Survey of NHS Patients.

The Department's requirement for this work was advertised in the European Journal of the European Communities in accordance with European Commission and General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade rules on public procurement on this scale. The contract award was based on the most economically advantageous bid in terms of technical quality, service delivery and experience.
