To ask the Secretary of State for Education and Employment if he will list each LEA area in order of the performance of its maintained schools at(a) A Level and (b) GCSE. [55476]

The GCE A level and GCSE information requested in respect of LEA areas is shown in the table. The results relate to 1997 exams. The results for the 1998 exams will be published later this year.
