To ask the Secretary of State for Education and Employment what representations he has received concerning the funding for colleges of further education in Inner London; and if he will make a statement. [55517]

Mr. Mudie

My right hon. Friend the Secretary of State has received a number of representations about funding. The further education sector, including Inner London colleges, will benefit from the additional £255 million for 1999–2000, announced as part of the Comprehensive Spending Review.

To ask the Secretary of State for Education and Employment what representations he has received concerning the ethnicity factor in the school funding formula for Inner London; and if he will make a statement. [55518]

Ms Estelle Morris

The Government have received a number of conflicting representations regarding the ethnicity factor in the education Standard Spending Assessment formula. Decisions as to the formula for 1999–2000 will be announced later this year.
