HC Deb 19 October 1998 vol 317 c895W
Mr. Corbyn

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions what discussions he has held with(a) Railtrack and (b) train operating companies concerning the electrification of the Gospel Oak to Barking line. [55515]

Ms Glenda Jackson

None. Railtrack is investing £40 million on the North London Lines over the next 3 years, mainly to improve clearances and remove line speed restrictions, of which £2.9m is allocated for electrification work between now and 2001. Railtrack is considering AC electrification for the route between Harringay and Wembley, but electrification east of Harringay is not proposed at present.
