Mr. Charles Clarke

From September this year all those training to become primary school teachers must follow a national training curriculum in English and mathematics which specifies the essential core of knowledge, understanding and skills which all trainees must be taught, know and be able to do in relation to primary English and mathematics.

As part of the National Literacy and Numeracy Strategies, all serving primary teachers will receive training in the most effective methods of teaching these key skills.
