To ask the Secretary of State for Education and Employment if he will make a statement on the future of off-site collaborative provision in further education colleges. [59121]

Mr. Mudie

My right hon. Friend the Secretary of State considers that cost-effective and high quality collaborative provision can make a significant contribution to the lifelong learning agenda. But some aspects of collaborative provision have caused concern. We shall keep those under review with the Further Education Funding Council.

Dr. Iddon

To ask the Secretary of State for Education and Employment what steps he is taking to improve standards of achievement in further and higher education. [59120]

Mr. Mudie

The Government's commitment to raising standards throughout Further and Higher Education is being taken forward through active collaboration with the funding councils and other partners. My right hon. Friend the Secretary of State will announce details shortly, building on our plans announced inThe Learning Age.
