HC Deb 18 November 1998 vol 319 cc583-4W
Mr. Chope

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland what assessment he has made of the conclusions of Taskforce 2000 published on 11 November in respect of his Department's most recent quarterly return on plans and progress towards Year 2000 readiness. [60218]

Mr. Dewar

The Taskforce 2000 study is based on the most recent quarterly returns from Departments about their Year 2000 readiness. These have been available on the internet since early September. The results of the next quarterly review will be announced shortly to the House and copies of The Scottish Office's latest quarterly return will be placed in the Libraries of the House and published on the internet.

I am pleased that the report assesses Year 2000 readiness in The Scottish Office as a low risk. However we cannot afford to be complacent about the task of ensuring that there will be no material disruption to public and other vital services as a result of the millennium date change.
