To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions what monitoring he carries out on the composition of the regional customer service committees appointed by the Director of Ofwat. [59336]

Information about appointments to, and the composition of, the regional Customer Service Committees established by the Director General of Water Services are contained in his Annual Reports, copies of which are in the Library. Biographical details about Chairmen and Members of the Committees are published in their Annual Reports 'Representing Water Customers', copies of which are also in the Library and can be found on the OFWAT web site.

I understand that the Director General aims to ensure that membership of the committees is drawn from all sections of the community so that each committee has members with a wide range of expertise and backgrounds, including knowledge of the difficulties facing customers with special needs and those from different ethnic groups.
