HC Deb 16 November 1998 vol 319 cc410-1W
Mr. Chaytor

To ask the Secretary of State for Education and Employment how many bids he has received for financial support to establish local authority lifelong learning development plans; and if he will list the successful applicants. [59260]

Mr. Mudie

[holding answer 12 November 1998]: We are allocating financial support over the next three financial years to all Local Education Authorities in England to strengthen the contribution they make to lifelong learning. No bids will be required. Local Education Authorities will be asked to use this money to develop new, high quality, initiatives to widen participation in learning, in partnership with local learning providers, and to underpin future development activity with Local Authority Lifelong Learning Development Plans.
