[holding answer 10 November 1998]: I have been asked to reply.

Earlier this year, the National Criminal Intelligence Service received a request from the Russian Interior Ministry for assistance in tracing assets suspected of being linked to organised crime. The request was made in accordance with a Memorandum of Understanding concluded during a visit to London on 18 June 1998 by the Russian Interior Minister, Sergei Stepashin.
