HC Deb 12 November 1998 vol 319 c306W
Mr. Horam

To ask the Secretary of State for Health what estimate he has made of(a) the number of people who have come out of private health schemes since tax relief on premiums for the over 60s was abolished, (b) the additional burdens which this has placed on the National Health Service and (c) future leaving rates from these schemes. [59079]

Mr. Milburn

None. The additional resources we have provided to the National Health Service far exceed any demand created by the abolition of tax relief on private medical insurance premiums.
