HC Deb 12 November 1998 vol 319 c309W
Mr. Evans

To ask the Secretary of State for Health if he will list the areas of responsibility within his Department which have seen the largest real terms increase in spending; and if he will make a statement on the outcomes. [59459]

Mr. Milburn

Within our area of responsibility, real terms increases in National Health Service total net expenditure in 1999–2000 in England will be 5.2 per cent., a further 4.5 per cent. in the year after that and a further 3.9 per cent. in the last year of this Parliament. Within this total there are substantial increases in resources for the NHS and public health.

These resources will help us deliver our objective of a modern and dependable health service.
