To ask the Secretary of State for Health, pursuant to his answer of 3 November 1998,Official Report, column 538, concerning care home placements, what research he has commissioned to establish the scale of the problems. [58803]

No research has been commissioned specifically to look at this issue. Following the passage of the Community Care (Residential Accommodation) Act 1998 we are unaware of any major problems in this area.
