§ Ms Glenda JacksonThe performance of bus passenger services in London is a matter for London Transport. The Department receives regular reports of the overall performance on the bus network and monitors this against targets set by the Secretary of State.
I would refer my hon. Friend to the Government's White Paper "A Mayor and Assembly for London" in which we have said that the present arrangements work well but that Transport for London should be free to develop and improve these arrangements working within a statutory framework similar to the present one.
