HC Deb 04 November 1998 vol 318 cc595-6W
Mr. John D. Taylor

To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland if he will make a statement on the number of homes(a) which have received planning approval and (b) for which application is presently under consideration by the planning department in the vicinity of Crossnacreevy villages. [56704]

Mr. Paul Murphy

Responsibility for this matter has been delegated to the Planning Service under its Chief Executive, Mr. T. W. Stewart, and I have asked him to arrange for a reply to be given.

Letter from T. W. Stewart to Mr. John D. Taylor, dated 2 November 1998:

The Secretary of State has asked me to reply to your recent Question about housing development in the vicinity of Crossnacreevy Villages. For the purposes of this Question, I have regarded the vicinity of Crossnacreevy Villages as being the following area:

Ballygowan Road between Roselawn and Gransha Road;

Church Road for half a mile from Crossnacreevy; and

Houston Road for half a mile on the west side of Ballygowan Road.

Our records show that only planning applications for individual houses in the countryside, within the above area, have ever been received. I can confirm that 10 of these applications were approved, while one was refused.

We are not processing any current applications for housing at this moment in time.

I hope this information meets your needs.
