§ Ms JowellThe Department estimates that around 4,000 people with haemophilia were infected with hepatitis C through blood products prior to the introduction of viral inactivation processes in 1985.
The latest figure quoted by the Haemophilia Society shows that they now assess the total number of haemophiliacs infected with hepatitis C at 4,800.
