§ Angela EagleWork has recently been commissioned by the DETR into whether a tax or charge on pesticides would be an effective way to reduce water pollution and negative impacts on the terrestrial environment, and to consider how such a tax or charge might work. The terms of reference for the study, to be carried out by ECOTEC442W research consulting limited cover inter alia detailed design issues; potential distributional impacts; and assessment of the issues affecting competitive positions of sectors of the UK economy.
