§ Mr. Paul Murphy[holding answer 18 May 1998]: The Government have no plans to give any money to parties in connection with the forthcoming referendum. The parties are, however, entitled to a free mail shot in the referendum. It is for the parties to approach the Post Office to arrange distribution of their material, and the Post Office then recovers the cost from the Government. Until that has happened, we do not know exactly how much money the mail shot will cost.
