To ask the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster what plans he has to change the system for public appointments. [30881]

The Government made a number of proposals about public appointments and public bodies in our consultation paper "Opening up Quangos". We are now considering responses to that paper and also the recent Report on Public Appointments from the Select Committee on Public Administration (HC327). We will carefully consider each of the recommendations of that Report, and respond in due course.
