§ Ms Glenda JacksonSeveral measures are currently planned to improve maritime safety in the fishing industry. These include bringing into force regulations implementing EC Directives on occupational health and safety on board fishing vessels: further work with industry on the development of a Code of Safe Practice for smaller fishing vessels and a joint initiative with fishing industry organisations to reduce accidents and encourage positive attitudes to safety.
