§ Mr. David AtkinsonTo ask the President of the Board of Trade what progress her Department has made in compiling a directory of organisations offering solutions to the Millennium bug; how much each organisation is charged for an entry; and if she will make a statement.[44603]
§ Mrs. RocheIn conjunction with the Computing Services and Software Association, Action 2000 issued in January 1998 a Factsheet which registers over 50 companies which offer Year 2000 products or services. The register is also available on the CSSA website. The supplier must either be a member of the CSSA or have agreed to abide by the CSSA code of practice. The structure and content of this register are under review for a new edition of the Action 2000 Information Pack due for release in July. The intention is to collate additional data and to make the information available dynamically through the Action 2000 Helpdesk and Website. At this stage entry to the Register is free of charge.
A further, more detailed register of providers of Tools and Techniques has been drafted by Action 2000, initially as part of its support to Business Links but also as a major component of the revised Information Pack. This will be accessible in the same way and entry will also be free of charge.
