HC Deb 31 July 1998 vol 317 cc774-5W
Mr. Boswell

To ask the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry if an annual leave entitlement of three weeks under the Working Time Directive will be applicable in those industries which have not normally offered such leave; and what would be the cost to business of this entitlement. [54033]

Mr. Ian McCartney

All workers under the scope of the working time regulations will have an entitlement to paid annual leave. Workers involved in transport, sea fishing, other work at sea and doctors in training are excluded from the Working Time Directive. An estimate of the costs and benefits are set out in the regulatory appraisal included in the consultation document. A copy is available in the Library of the House.
