Mr. Bercow

To ask the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry when he will announce the fee to be charged to businesses seeking advice from the Director General of Fair Trading under the provision of the Competition Bill [Lords]. [54095]

Mr. Brady

To ask the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry when he expects to announce the fee which will be charged to businesses under the Competition Bill proposals. [54239]

Mr. Ian McCartney

Clauses 51 and 53 of the Competition Bill [Lords] currently before Parliament provide for the Director General of Fair Trading to make rules about procedural matters including the charging of fees. In preparing such rules the Director General must consult such persons as he considers appropriate. Such consultation on fees will take place after Royal Assent, either as part of the general consultation or separately.

Mr. Brady

To ask the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry if his Department has revised its estimates of the compliance costs to business arising from the Competition Bill [Lords] to reflect changes during the Bill's passage. [54240]

Mr. Ian McCartney

The Department published a revised estimate of compliance costs to business arising from the Competition Bill when the Bill was introduced into the House to reflect such changes made in another place.
