The Treasury has no record of having received Mr. Eason's letter. I will be happy to respond promptly when I do receive it.

[holding answer 30 July 1998]: I regret the long delay in replying to this letter. The correspondence was unfortunately mislaid due to a problem with the computer system used to handle Ministerial correspondence between the Inland Revenue and the Treasury. In view of its subject matter, the correspondence has now been passed to my right hon. Friend the President of the Council and Leader of the House and I understand the hon. Member can expect to receive a reply in the near future.
