§ Dawn Primarolo[holding answer 29 July 1998]: The Commission's view is that there is no requirement for a change in EU legislation in order to enact their suggestion for the successor regime and it has said that, to the extent necessary, certain legal provisions may be disregarded by mutual agreement. The UK has reserved its position on this to examine all options.
