HL Deb 30 July 1998 vol 592 c248WA
Lord Mackay of Ardbrecknish

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether there is any evidence that Gyrodactylus salaris can be spread in salmon eggs; and, if so, whether they intend to ban the import of salmonid eggs. [HL2990]

Lord Sewel

There is no evidence thatGvrodactylus salaris can be spread in salmon eggs. All imports of eggs must be certified as thoroughly disinfected.
