HC Deb 30 July 1998 vol 317 cc432-3W
Mr. Amess

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions what is the projected completion date, and what was the original estimated date, for completion of the A12 relief road between Leytonstone and Redbridge roundabout and what factors underlie the differences. [53704]

Ms Glenda Jackson

I have asked the Chief Executive of the Highways Agency, Mr. Lawrie Haynes, to write to the hon. Member.

Letter from Lawrie Haynes to Mr. David Amess, dated 30 July 1998: The Minister for Transport in London has asked me to reply to your recent Parliamentary Question about the A12 Hackney to M11 Link Road scheme. The section of the scheme between the Green Man Roundabout at Leytonstone and the Redbridge Roundabout began in September 1993. The original four year contract had been extended due to complications in the diversion of public utilities equipment and, more recently, difficulties with the provision of specialist mechanical and electrical equipment. We now expect completion of this section of the scheme around the turn of the year but this is not expected to affect the overall scheme completion date.
