§ Clare ShortThe eradication of poverty in developing countries is the Department for International Development's purpose, and the focus of our work throughout the year. We currently have no plans to single out 17 October as a specific day for the eradication of poverty. However, we will consider any opportunities that do arise for taking forward our work in the context of the day.
