§ Dr. HowellsThere are currently 109 sixth form colleges. 116 joined the Further Education sector on 1 April 1993 and two sixth form colleges have joined the sector since then, the most recent on 1 August 1995. New Further Education corporations are established by order of the Secretary of State under section 16 of the Further and Higher Education Act 1992.
