§ Mr. Kilfoyle[holding answer 27 July 1998]: Since 1 May 1997, the Government have established 25 NDPBs and abolished 39. These are listed. Additional proposals to create NDPBs to deliver the Government's Manifesto commitments, and to abolish further bodies, have also been announced; a number of these will be subject to Parliamentary approval. Ministers will continue to examine all the NDPBs they sponsor with a view to identifying further candidates for abolition.
