To ask the Secretary of State for Education and Employment if he will estimate the proportion of the full average costs to employers of providing a modern apprenticeship in the engineering industry that is met by the subsidy payable through training and enterprise councils. [52957]

Funding for Modern Apprenticeships in the engineering industry is agreed through local negotiations between Training and Enterprise Councils and employers/training providers. The level of support will vary according to a range of factors including local circumstances and the needs of individuals.
