Mr. Pearson

To ask the Secretary of State for Education and Employment how much was spent by the Higher Education Funding Council in 1995–96 in support of students studying for accountancy qualifications. [52244]

Dr. Howells

The Higher Education Funding Council for England allocate block grant to institutions based on a broad funding model. The Funding Council has estimated that in 1995–96 the funding model allocated around £36 million to institutions for students on accountancy courses.

Mr. Pearson

To ask the Secretary of State for Education and Employment what statistics his Department collects on the fees charged to students by further education colleges for studying towards accountancy qualifications. [52242]
