To ask the Secretary of State for Health how many hysterectomies were carried out in the United Kingdom in the last year for which figures are available; and how many were carried out for fibroids alone. [52067]

The information for National Health Service Hospitals in England for 1995–96 (the latest figures available) is as follows:
