To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions if he will list the total compensation payments paid to construction consortia involved in Design, Build, Finance and Operate road schemes postponed as a result of the Integrated Transport Review. [52091]

Tenderers were invited to prepare claims for compensation for three Design, Build Finance and Operate projects which were cancelled following the accelerated roads review in July 1997. The projects are Weald and Downland, Cumbria to Bradford and South Midlands Network. The total of the on-account payments already made for the three projects is £6 million.
