To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions if he will implement the conclusions of the review of the area cost adjustment in time for the 1999–2000 financial year. [52926]

We shall examine carefully all the findings that have emerged from research on the area cost adjustment both this year and earlier. We shall want to take all of this into account when deciding on our proposals for Standard Spending Assessments for 1999–2000.
