HC Deb 23 July 1998 vol 316 c669W
Mrs. Dunwoody

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions what powers he has to prevent the advertising for sale of equipment designed (i) to warn of speed traps and (ii) to adjust odometers. [51183]

Ms Glenda Jackson

None. The Advertising Standards Authority and the Independent Television Commission are responsible for preserving advertising standards. My noble Friend the Minister for Roads has referred objectionable advertisements to the ASA and has been successful in having them withdrawn.
