To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer, pursuant to his answer of 9 July 1998,Official Report, column 570, if the Government are assessing alternative options to the ICL Pathway Project. [51497]

[holding answer 21 July 1998]: The ICL Pathway project is designed to introduce a modern method of benefit payment over post office counters, reducing fraud and improving efficiency. The Government are fully committed to achieving these objectives.

To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will make a statement on the future of the ICL Pathway Project. [51491]
