§ Mr. Doug HendersonThe Single Currency clearly involves a major pooling of economic sovereignty by participating Member States. Its launch, along with enlargement, economic reform, and cooperation in the fight against organised crime, is an important part of the background to the discussion about the future development of the European Union launched by the Prime Minister at Cardiff. That discussion will be taken up by Heads of Government in October.
