HC Deb 12 January 1998 vol 304 cc137-8W
Mr. Gorrie

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence how many households on armed forces' housing estates have been served with notices of eviction in the current year; what estimate he has made of the figures for each of the next three years; and how many of these are in the categories(a) civilian and (b) irregular. [21320]

Mr. Spellar

In the current year, 28 Irregular Occupants have been served with eviction notices, none of whom were civilian licensees. It is not possible to predict future numbers as Irregular Occupancy arises as a result of loss of entitlement through bereavement, marital breakdown and personnel leaving the Services but remaining in their quarters. On occasion, civilian licensees may similarly refuse to leave their homes at the end of their licence periods but it is not possible to predict this eventuality. Even in such circumstances it is not always necessary to seek eviction of occupants.
