To ask the Secretary of State for Education and Employment what is the percentage drop-out rate by students on full and part-time courses in(a) NVQ level 2 and 3 Food Preparation and Cooking,(b) BTEC National Diploma in Hotel, Catering and Institutional Operations and (c) advanced GNVQ Hospitality and Catering. The drop out rates from National Vocational Qualifications are not measurable because these qualifications are not timebound; the position is the same for the BTEC National Diploma in Hotel, Catering and Institutional Operations.

The latest figure on drop out rates for the Advanced GNVQ in Hospitality and Training (1995/96), for full time students, is 14 per cent.
