§ Mr. Ian McCartney[holding answer 29 January 1998]: The Government are committed to enabling trade unions to obtain recognition where a majority of the relevant workforce vote in a ballot for the union to represent them. We will consult fully on our proposals which will be set out in a White Paper to be published in the first part of this year.
