Ms Quin

The cost of establishing Colchester Young Offender Institution was approximately £460,000. About £49,000 of this represented capital costs.

Data on young offenders will continue to be monitored after the closure of Colchester and the outcomes will be compared with those of other similar offenders.

Those young offenders currently at Colchester who will not be able to complete their sentences there will be transferred to other establishments.
