To ask the Secretary of State for Health what is the proportion of private beds in(a) each PFI contract approved and (b) each PFI contract being planned; and how many private and NHS beds there are in these contracts. [28308]

Information on the number and proportion of private and National Health Service beds planned at the major acute approved Private Finance Initiative schemes and currently proposed for the major acute schemes testing for PFI is provided in the table. Information is also provided on the number of private beds currently provided at these trusts.

Information is not held centrally on the provision of private beds in smaller scale (capital value of £10 million or less) and non-acute PFI schemes.
