To ask the Secretary of State for Defence if he will make a statement on the implications of the Government's defence diplomacy initiative for the Strategic Defence Review. [26108]

Mr. George Robertson

Defence Diplomacy is the use of our Armed Forces to promote conflict and crisis prevention, and more generally support and promote wider British interests. It is a major theme of the Strategic Defence Review and its importance will be clearly reflected in the United Kingdom's defence policy when we publish the conclusions of the Review in a White Paper.
